团队主要研究方向为:癫痫、睡眠障碍、临床神经电生理。
团队主要研究内容:致力于难治性癫痫发病机制与诊疗新技术的研究,建立癫痫综合诊疗体系,并进行推广。重点研究脑神经生理机制和脑功能疾病的病理生理机制,揭示脑功能疾病的脑网络活动规律,探寻采集脑信号、定位脑功能异常和调控脑功能的可靠方法,开发体外无创以及体内植入式神经调控装置,确立可靠的治疗靶点和有效的治疗参数,建立个体化脑功能疾病调控治疗体系。
团队依托于脑功能疾病调控治疗北京市重点实验室, 现任重点实验室主任为王玉平教授,学术委员会主任为首都医科大学王晓民教授。目前实验室拥有固定工作人员 192 名,其中博、硕士研究生导师 24 人,副高级以上研究人员 57 人,博士学历以上研究人员 83 人。本实验室配置有脑磁图、视频脑电图仪、诱发电位仪、 事件相关电位仪、平衡功能检测系统、立体定向装置、经颅磁刺激仪、经颅磁刺激导航系统、大脑皮层刺激设备等大型神经生理设备 230 余台套,总价值 1 亿 9000 余万元。团队负责人于1998年至今于首都医科大学宣武医院工作。创建了宣武医院睡眠中心、北京市癫痫诊疗中心,为团队提供了丰富的临床资源。目前团队已完成国家863计划1项、国家重点研发计划1项,国家自然科学基金等国家级课题5项、省部级课题20余项。发表国内外研究论文504篇。
队伍建设方面,团队进一步强化开放、流动和竞争机制,做到人员合理流动,队伍不断优化。
国内外产学研合作交流及开放情况方面,与国际知名神经生理实验室建立稳固的双赢模式双边国际学术交流,并多次举办国际学术会议。

王玉平主任自1998年至今在首都医科大学宣武医院工作,创建了宣武医院睡眠中心、北京市癫痫诊疗中心。
牵头建立了多种神经疾病队列;发现了感觉皮层信息输入“闸门”失控以及感觉运动网络与情绪网络连接功能异常是失眠的病理生理特征,证实了额顶控制网络功能失衡是失眠、焦虑、抑郁的共有网络特点。开发了经颅近红外光刺激、电-磁联合刺激、光-电联合无创刺激技术,建立了上述技术治疗失眠障碍、焦虑、抑郁、阿尔兹海默病、自闭症、癫痫等神经精神疾病的临床治疗方案。主持研制了具有自主知识产权的多靶点经颅电-磁刺激装置,开发了TMS-EEG同步采集、穿戴式视听刺激同步脑信号采集、分析、调控一体化装置等,获授权发明专利2项(均为第一发明人)。主持完成国家863计划1项、国家重点研发计划1项,国家自然科学基金等国家级课题5项、省部级课题20余项。发表国内外研究论文500余篇。
