北京积水潭医院麻醉科于1958年成立。经过多年几代人的努力，现已发展成为集医疗、教学和科研为一体的现代化临床科室，综合实力位于国内领先地位。

大事记：

1996年 开设麻醉后恢复室（PACU），为各种危重、复杂手术病人手术后麻醉恢复创造良好的条件。

1998年 开展术中自体血回输等节约用血技术，大大节约临床用血，并成功地抢救多例大出血的外伤病人。

1998年 规模开展病人自控镇痛（PCA）技术

2002年 急性等容性血液稀释（ANH）应用于临床

2002年 开始使用神经刺激仪引导外周神经阻滞，在国内一直处于领先水平

2006年 临床使用超声引导外周神经阻滞和深静脉穿刺等操作

2010年 临床常规实施血流动力学监测

2012年 成立亚专业组，进一步深化各个领域的临床实践与科研
