姜春岩教授带领积水潭医院运动医学科团队在国内首次建立并完善了肩关节外科专业体系，明确了肩关节外科系统性治疗的综合规范，针对各种急、慢性肩关节损伤的治疗积累了丰富的经验，尤其在肩关节外科疾病的关节镜微创手术治疗及肩关节复杂创伤的治疗方面，积累了数近万例手术经验，在退行性肩袖疾患、难治性肩关节不稳定、肱骨近端骨折以及肩锁关节脱位等方面皆有深厚的造诣，其中难治性肩关节不稳定、退行性肩袖疾患、复杂肱骨近端骨折以及肩锁关节脱位等方面引领了国内、国际相关治疗理念与技术的发展。团队每年完成各类微创关节镜及切开手术近三千例，其中很大比例为肩关节外科疑难疾病，难度大，风险高，严重影响患者生活质量。这些患者治疗后的优异效果获得了患者的高度认可和业界的一致好评，代表了我国肩关节治疗的最高水平，所在团队于2014年获批国家临床重点专科建设项目，在临床医疗工作方面积累了丰富的经验，具备良好的专业水平与专业素质。团队主要成员积极开展相关科研工作，获得了国家自然科学基金、“首都临床特色应用研究”专项，北京市科技新星计划、北京市卫生系统高层次卫生技术人才培养计划等多项项目资助。
