首都医科大学附属北京世纪坛医院医学检验科是北京市设置齐全、检验项目覆盖范围最广的临床检验中心之一，是全国唯一同时获得CAP、ISO15189和ISO17025认可的临床实验室，制定多个行业标准，检验质量与能力达国际一流水准；是北京市重点实验室，为不同医学领域临床研究提供全球先进水平检验平台；作为国家卫生健康委员会妇幼健康服务检验质量监测指导中心，负责全国妇幼系统医疗机构的质量管理、技术指导，提升基层诊疗服务能力；是世界华人检验与病理医师协会会长单位，搭建国际学术交流与合作平台，促进检验医学领域发展。作为首都医科大学和北京大学医学部硕士/博士培养点，首都医科大学博士后流动站以及我国检验医师规范化培训的开启单位，制定《住院医师规范化培训检验专科医师培训细则》并编写多部著作。

    张曼教授首次提出“五级检验诊断报告”理念，并组织全国检验专家撰写数17个“检验诊断报告专家共识”，开创了检验诊断报告模式在检验医学领域应用的先河。在心血管疾病、糖尿病、肿瘤疾病、高血脂用药基因多态性、优生优育等方面进行了系统深入的机理研究，为分析其发病原因、病理变化、发展趋势和预后评价等积累了系统丰富的知识体系，同时致力于尿液蛋白质组学的研究，对于各种疾病尿液蛋白变化及机制进行深入研究。主持国家重点研发计划、国家科技支撑计划、国家高技术研究发展计划（863计划）、国家科技部重点课题、铁道部重点课题、北京市自然科学基金及首都卫生发展科研专项等三十余个课题。

发表论文300余篇，主编论著9部，获得“国家科学技术进步奖二等奖”、“北京市科学技术进步奖三等奖”、北京医学科技奖三等奖““全国妇幼健康科学技术奖一等奖”、“世界杰出华人医师霍英东奖”等数十余奖项。

      张曼教授长期从事临床教学工作，并致力于检验医学人才的培养。作为硕士、博士和博士后导师，培养硕士40名，博士22名。参与卫生部“建立我国专科医师培训与准入制度研究”项目；主持制定了我国“检验住院医师规范化培训内容与标准”、“检验住院医师规范化培训基地认定标准”；组织我国检验医师规范化培训的试点工作；根据我国国情结合国内外先进经验，组织检验专家对“检验住院医师规范化培训内容与标准”、“检验住院医师规范化培训基地认定标准”进行了多次修订；主持制定《住院医师规范化培训评估指标—检验医学科专业基地》，对全国检验医师的培养工作起到了引领作用。
