段钟平教授是首都医科大学附属北京佑安医院肝病中心四科（原疑难肝病及人工肝中心）创始人，肝病四科是一集医疗、科研、教学、培训、国际交流与合作为一体的大型综合性的临床诊疗与技术服务中心，是以“疑难重症肝病”、“肝衰竭”、“胆汁淤积性肝病”、及“人工肝血液净化"为核心特色的高端研究平台，是北京市人工肝治疗培训中心。段钟平教授研究团队在重型肝炎、肝衰竭、人工肝治疗、乙肝母婴阻断、重症肝病营养治疗等领域均取得了一系列成就。
