在四十年的神经外科生涯中,成功实施了1万余例神经外科手术,其中仅癫痫手术就达7000余例。至今主持国家自然科学基金重大项目子课题、面上项目、科技 部重点研发计划、首都卫生发展专项重点项目等课题 30 余项,以第一作者或责任作者发表SCI论文100余篇,主编及参编著作20余部,先后培养了博士、硕士研究生60余名。并于2017年5月获得世界神经调控重要贡献奖,还获黄家驷生物医学工程奖、 北京市科技进步二、三等奖等奖项。

首都医科大学三博脑科医院功能及癫痫疾病诊疗中心由国内知名神经外科专家栾国明教授领衔,整合多个学科,是北京市脑重大疾病研究院癫痫研究所常设机构,也是中国抗癫痫协会癫痫疑难症会诊中心。
